Richfield

Hennepin County, MN

The Urban Hometown

Richfield is a smaller first-ring suburb just south of Minneapolis and West of the Airport. It is a primarily residential suburb known for smaller homes built primarily in the postwar-era from the 1940s-1970s. Settled early in the area’s history, it is Minneapolis’ oldest suburb and maintains a “small town” feel. Best Buy’s corporate headquarters are located here.

Population: 36,994

Typical Home Styles: Minimalist Traditional, Split Level, Rambler, Mid Century Modern

Popular Attractions: Wood Lake Nature Center, Best Buy Headquarters

Our Take: What Richfield lacks in fancy housing and attractions it makes up for with approachable home prices and incredible convenience. It’s surrounded by major highways, the airport, Mall of America, Minneapolis Chain of Lakes, and Edina. It’s affordability has recently caught the attention of buyers and investors placing the city in high demand. This influx is bringing more shopping, development, and improved city amenities.
