Battle Creek-Highwood
St. Paul, MN

Located just two miles from downtown St. Paul, Battle Creek-Eastview-Highwood is the former bedroom community for 3M Corporation and retains a suburban feel. Modern houses largely built from the 1960s to the 1990s are sited on large lots, many with panoramic views of the Mississippi River bluffs, Pigs Eye Lake and Nature Preserve (which features a large heron rookery), or along Battle Creek Regional Park (full of hiking and bicycling trails).
The community includes several smaller neighborhoods: Eastview and Conway (also referred to as Sunray, because of the shopping center of that name), Battle Creek and Highwood Hills. In the Highwood section, homes from the 1880s can be found as the railroads and river brought new residents to the area back then. Public, magnet and private schools abound, as do parks, recreation centers, and nature areas. The neighborhood boasts its own transit hub with access to I-94. Franchise and local restaurants, grocery stores, fitness centers and shops can be found along the major avenues and in SunRay Center.
